This is the newest version of Italian Renaissance reproduction earrings, in our
Orsini-Medici Embellishments collections!!
Researched from the Renaissance family portraits of the Orsini and Medici families, (of which I am a direct descent of Clarice through my grandfather, Lorenzo Orsini), and from the Netflix produced series, The Medici.
Clarice Orsini de Medici was of the Monterotondo branch of Orsini, who ended up in Naples after the diaspora of the family due to the 30 year war against them by the Borgias in the early 1500's. She was also the niece of Cardinal Orsini.
Still, the Orsini's managed to hold on to power, and ruled along side the Medici family in Rome and Tuscany from 1434 to 1737, with two brief interruptions.
There were 3 Orsini Popes, Celestine III, Nicholas III, and Benedict XII, 34 Cardinals, and many "condetieri" (mercenary soldiers).
These earrings are royal to the core!! A filagree cross is superimposed on the quatrefoil base, and Swarovski jet gemstones in the center. From that drops a rectangular resin stone, and a tear drop shaped black glass bead, set into filagree bead caps. They are suspended from comfortable lever back wires, are hypo-allergenic, and lead and nickel free.
They are also unique in their construction as no glue is used, but rather, they are SEWN entirely by hand with a brass wire.
Still, they are fragile, so please handle with great care!!
These earrings are shoulder duster length at 3 7/8 inches from the wire, and the earring itself is a generous 3 inches.
